Pretty New Stranger in Dead Gulch Canyon

In the dwindling, soon-to-be ghost town of Dead Gulch Canyon, where whispers of the past echoed through dusty streets, Gwendelyn sought refuge from the echos of her not to distant yesterday's. She had left behind a trail of trouble, words had been said, and a lingering mystery that she was determined to abandon in the town that lay far away from here.

Yes, the money had not been hers, but it hadn't been his either.

Now, Gwendelyn found herself living off her ill-gotten gain, but her conscience had grown numb to such concerns. She was a stranger in this desolate town, an outsider, and that anonymity was her only sanctuary. In this place that was quickly becoming a ghost town, she saw an opportunity for a fresh start - a chance to clean the slate.

The eerie quiet of Dead Gulch Canyon was perfect for someone looking to escape their past. But she knew it was only a temporary respite. The shadows of those days still clung to her. She'd probably have to move on again - and soon. But for now, it the tiny village would do.

The townsfolk, what little remained of them, could only whisper when they saw her.

Did they know?

Or was it just the way with the small tight-knit community? A wandering eye and whispers when a strange walked by?

Taking matters into her own hands back then was a well-guarded secret . . . one she planed to keep.
